On May 14, 2022, a mass shooting occurredin Buffalo, New York, United States, at a Tops Friendly Markets supermarket in the East Sideneighborhood. Ten people, all of whom were black, were murdered, and three people were injured. The perpetrator, 18-year-old Payton Gendron, livestreamed part of the attack on Twitch until the livestream was shut down by the service in under two minutes.

Supermarket Approach: The shooter drives up to a Tops Friendly Markets store in Buffalo. He is wearing heavy tactical gear, a body armor, and a helmet.

Shooting Begins in the Parking Lot: After exiting his car, he immediately opens fire on people standing on the street in front of the store.
Supermarket Entrance: The gunman enters the building and continues shooting at customers and employees in the sales area.
Refusing to Shoot a White Man: At one point in the video, the shooter points his gun at a white man hiding behind a cash register, but does not fire, saying "Sorry" and walking away. This confirms the racial motive behind the crime, as he targeted exclusively Black people.
Stream Cutoff: Less than two minutes after the shooting began, the streaming platform Twitch blocked the broadcast.
